Frequently Asked Questions
We'd never leave you hanging. Here are our most commonly asked questions.
Our Products
Are your winter coats really sustainable?
Yes—and we’re thoughtful about what that means. Our winter coats (and all of our outerwear!) are made with recycled materials and designed to last. The longer a jacket stays in play—through hand-me-downs, siblings, and multiple seasons—the better it is for the planet.
We design for durability, repair, and reuse, and we avoid unnecessary waste in how we package and ship our gear. As a B Corp Certified brand and a 1% for the Planet member, we’re committed to responsible practices that support kids, community, and the outdoors.
In short: well-made gear, built for long days loving outside, with sustainability baked into every decision.
What makes Town Hall kids' snow jackets, pants and bibs different from other outdoor gear?
They’re built for kids, not scaled-down adult gear. Using Kidsumer Insights, kids inform everything we do—from fit and comfort to features and durability.
Our snow gear is designed in Steamboat Springs and tested in our Rocky Mountain backyard on rough terrain and long winter days. We use recycled materials and thoughtful construction to create pieces that move with kids, stand up to hard play, and last long enough to be handed down.
Behind the gear is a passionate, small team that believes in giving back. We’re B Corp Certified and proud members of 1% for the Planet, building products—and a business—that support kids, community, and the places they love to play.
How do you ensure the quality and durability of your children's outdoor clothing?
Quality starts with thoughtful materials and construction. We choose durable fabrics, reinforce high-wear areas, and work closely with our manufacturing partners to meet strict quality standards.
But we don’t stop there. Our gear is durability-tested in Steamboat Springs and beyond—from rough Rocky Mountain terrain and cold winter days to everyday kid wear and tear. We also conduct quality checks at the factory and inspect every product again before it ships to you.
The result: well-built gear you can trust, designed to hold up through seasons of play, adventures, and hand-me-downs.
How do I find the right size for my child's outdoor jacket?
Start with our size chart —it’s based on real kids, not guesswork. We recommend measuring your child’s height and weight, then choosing the size that matches most closely.
Our jackets are designed for comfort and layering, with room for movement and growing kids. If your child is between sizes or you’re planning to layer underneath, sizing up is usually a good call.
Still unsure? We’re always happy to help—reach out to our team and we’ll help you find the right fit so your kid can focus on loving outside.
Do your jackets allow room for growth?
Yes. Many of our jackets are designed with grow seams—extra length that can be released as your child grows. That means the jacket can adapt over time, helping it fit well for more than one season.
Combined with comfortable proportions and room for layering, grow seams help extend the life of each jacket—so kids get more wear and parents get more value.
Why should I choose Town Hall for kids' outdoor gear?
Choose Town Hall for:
Kid-built design – Not scaled-down adult gear. We use Kidsumer Insights so kids inform everything we make.
Mountain-tested durability – Designed in Steamboat Springs and tested in the Rocky Mountains for real-world wear and tear.
Responsible materials & practices – Built with recycled materials by a B Corp Certified brand and 1% for the Planet member.
Gear that grows with kids – Thoughtful fits and grow seams designed to last through more than one season.
A brand that gives back – A small, passionate team committed to community, events, and spreading Town Hall love wherever kids play.
What waterproofing technology do you use?
Our snow gear uses durable waterproof and breathable fabrics, finished with a PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent) that helps snow and moisture bead up and roll off the fabric surface.
We pair that with thoughtful construction and seam sealing where it matters most, so kids stay dry and comfortable during long days of winter play. All materials are chosen for real-world performance and tested by kids in the Rocky Mountains—not just in a lab.
In short: reliable waterproofing, kid-tested durability, and fabrics that perform without harmful chemicals.
Are your jackets, pants and bibs suitable for specific outdoor activities?
Yes. Our jackets are designed to handle a wide range of outdoor adventures, including skiing, snowboarding, sledding, snowshoeing, ice skating, hiking, winter biking, fort building, playground time, and everyday winter wear. Our gear is perfecto for layering too!
They’re built for movement, warmth, and durability, with features that stand up to active play in cold, snowy conditions. Designed in Steamboat Springs and tested in the Rocky Mountains, our jackets are made for kids who spend real time outside—not just quick trips from the car to the lodge.
In short: versatile, hard-wearing winter jackets for wherever kids choose to play.
How do I care for and maintain my Town Hall kids' jacket, pants and bibs?
Keeping your Town Hall jacket in great shape is easy. We recommend washing it occasionally to remove dirt and oils that can affect performance.
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle
Use mild detergent (no fabric softeners or bleach)
Tumble dry low to help reactivate the PFC-free DWR finish
Close all zippers and fasteners before washing
For best results, avoid dry cleaning and air dry if needed between washes. With a little care, your jacket will stay ready for snowy days, big adventures, and plenty of hand-me-downs.
What happens if my kid grows out of their jacket or pants?
That’s part of the plan. Many of our jackets and pants are designed with grow seams and thoughtful fits to help extend their life through more than one season.
When your kid finally outgrows their gear, we encourage passing it along—whether that’s to a sibling, a friend, or another family. Our pieces are built to be worn hard and loved again, keeping great gear in play and out of the landfill.
It’s one more way we design with kids, families, and the planet in mind.

Do you have gear for other seasons than winter?
Yes! While we’re rooted in winter work, we also offer year-round outdoor gear designed for play in every season—from rain jackets and lightweight layers to sun shirts and adventure pants.
Just like our snow gear, seasonal pieces are built with thoughtful materials and features that stand up to real outdoor fun, whether it’s spring hikes, summer splash days, fall trail runs, or backyard exploration.
In short: we’ve got gear to help kids Love Outside all year long.
How is the product created and tested?
Every Town Hall product starts with listening—to kids and parents. Using Kidsumer Insights, we design gear around how kids actually move, play, and spend time outside.
From there, products are designed in Steamboat Springs and developed with trusted manufacturing partners using durable, responsible materials. Prototypes are worn, tested, and re-tested in our Rocky Mountain backyard and beyond—on real kids, in real conditions.
Before anything ships, each product goes through quality testing at the factory and is inspected again before heading to your door. It’s a hands-on process from first sketch to final stitch—so when kids put it on, it’s ready for adventure.

About the Company
What does it mean to be B Corp Certified and what is a Public Benefit Corporation?
B Corp Certified means Town Hall Outdoor Co. has been independently verified to meet high standards for social and environmental impact, accountability, and transparency. Certification looks at how we treat our workers, source materials, protect the environment, support our community, and govern our business—not just the products we make, but how we run the company.
In simple terms: it’s proof that we walk the talk when it comes to People + Planet + Place.
A Public Benefit Corporation (PBC) is a legal structure that allows us to prioritize our mission alongside profit. Unlike a traditional corporation that is required to maximize shareholder returns above all else, a PBC is legally empowered to consider the impact of our decisions on kids, families, workers, communities, and the planet.
For Town Hall, this means:
We design for durability and reuse—even when it’s harder or costs more
We invest in community and climate-positive practices
We’re accountable to our values, not just the bottom line
Together, being B Corp Certified and a Public Benefit Corporation ensures that as Town Hall grows, our commitment to helping every kid Love Outside stays front and center—today and for the long haul.
How do you build community? What do you do for your community?
Community is at the heart of everything we do. Town Hall was founded in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and we build our brand the same way we raise our kids—by showing up.
We support local schools and youth programs, volunteer our time, host and participate in kid-centered outdoor events, and build deep, long-term partnerships with nonprofits that protect the places kids love to play. We’re also proud members of 1% for the Planet, committing a portion of every sale to environmental giving.
Beyond our mountain town, community shows up in the wild too—the instant camaraderie when you spot another kid in Town Hall. From festivals to finish lines, we hand out thousands of high fives and stickers every year, spreading Town Hall love wherever kids are getting after it.
Big picture: we don’t just make gear—we build connection, belonging, and a whole lot of reasons to Love Outside.
Where is your headquarters?
Town Hall was born in Steamboat Springs, Colorado in 2020—and that’s still home. While we don’t have our own brick-and-mortar shop (yet!), our warehouse is based in Steamboat, where all orders are fulfilled.
Our small but mighty team of four works wherever good ideas happen: the warehouse, our homes, the Steamboat Library, local coffee shops, and yes—Jay (our co-founder)’s garage. Mountain town roots, fully intact.
